Ulaanbaatar: Tsend-Ayush Khurelbaatar was the hero for Mongolia as the East Asians defeated Myanmar 1-0 in the first leg of their 2014 FIFA World Cup first round qualifier at the Ulaanbaatar Football Centre on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old midfielder was on target three minutes after the interval before Myanmar’s misery was compounded with the dismissal of 17-year-old Zeyashwemye attacker Kyaw Ko Ko two minutes into second-half stoppage time.
Myanmar will be hoping to overturn the one-goal deficit when they host Mongolia in the return fixture in Yangon on Sunday with Oman waiting in the second round for the winners.
