Afghanistan 0-2 Palestine |Result Asian First Round Qualifiers World Cup 2014

Tursunzade: Palestine put one foot in the second round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after a goal in each half gave them a 2-0 first round first leg victory over Afghanistan on Wednesday.

Murad Alyan continued his rich vein of form with the 33-year-old Hilal Al Quds striker following up the four goals he scored in the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers by netting the opener 28 minutes in the match at the Metallurg Stadium.

The goal was Alyan’s fifth in four matches following his doubles against Bangladesh and Myanmar back in March but he was unable to add to his tally with Palestine’s second goal coming in the final minute courtesy of 66th minute substitute Ismail Alamour.

Palestine will look to make the most of their two-goal advantage and set up a second round tie with Thailand when they entertain the Afghans at the Faisal Al Huseni Stadium on Sunday.
